JEWISH FEDERATION OF GREATER LOS ANGELES
The Younes & Soraya Nazarian Iranian Young Leadership Initiative
Los Angeles, California
The Younes & Soraya Nazarian Iranian Young Leadership Initiative (IYLI) honors and celebrates Iranian heritage and culture through inclusive experiences and personal connections for young adults. The program envisions a future where Iranian Jewish young adults are fully engaged in Jewish Los Angeles as participants and leaders throughout the broader Jewish community.
IYLI applies several strategies to engage young adult stakeholders. Through peer-to-peer engagement, it empowers participants to leverage their existing relationships and skills to build their own programming and expand their networks. IYLI also provides training to help individuals and micro-communities create the online and in-person social connections they desire. Recognizing that today's young Jews hold multiple, often overlapping identities, programming combines Jewish themes with other interests to show that "doing Jewish" can fit into many different lifestyles.
